http://footballcommunity.ea.com/forum/view...r=asc&start=570 (scroll down) i think i'd actully cry if we won that gambling license and the City Of Birmingham was built  the bid is so strong, if we didnt win and Blackpool did it's just be a long list of out-of-touch London fatcats dismissing and stifling the development of the Second City. we supported London 2012 (reluctantly), they have a DUTY to support our bid. i love the chracter that comes with St. Andrews but let's face it it's a Championship stadium tucked up and hidden behind some houses, and the main stand is just an embarassment. i've backed the stadium from the start and really, the stadium will be a huge step for us if we want to move forward as a team and as a city. Star City has already proved that a casino does not turn everyone into bums who end up losing their house and turn alcoholics, so no-one really has a point to make about it not being built (unless you're a Vile fan worried that the real team of the city is taking it's crown) i didnt realise until recently in one of the pics, there's an elevated train line (or is it a monorail) right on the exterior of the stadium  the WHOLE region should be behind this project and the bid, and as has been said, it would compliment the 2012 games perfectley :P |

Very active board indeed.Who are these people? I also have welcomed this from the start and hope and pray we get it.The question you have to ask yourselves is - when blues have played in the new stadium for approximately a season would you has a Blues fan want to move back to St Andrews because the new stadium ain't cutting the mustard. |

I too hope the plans go ahead and we do bulid the sports village not just for BCFC purpose but for the whole community it would redevolope a run down area of birmingham and would show that birmingham can hold mega events such as commonwealth games, football, rugby, swimming and many more sporting events. it would put birmingham on the map and restamp us as the 2nd city, birmingham needs a multi purpose stadium and sports village its long long overdue. and of course a nice new ground would be an added bonus for BCFC but its the whole idea of the village that is the key and that will help locals etc ! So come on Birmingham stand by us support this stadium we need it as a city! Hopefully then the govt will see that we are redelvoping a run down area of birmingham just like they are for the 2012 olympics ! VOTE BRUM ! |

I hate to say it, but the term there are no certainties in life just doesn't apply here: there is no chance we will get the stadium. London has always been scared of giving Brum enough to start a chain reaction that would see the city rapidly develop past their own COCKney one. Granting Brum the super casino would see massive money come to Birmingham and London will not allow this. Dont worry though lads, just over a year left in my Politics degree now, gimme another ten years and there'll be a blue nose in number 10 to sort things out!! KRO |

The momentum behind this proposal has to continue, the board and fans have got to persaude the council to back it fully, until that happens and Birmingham is united behind one proposal, No-one will take it seriously. Once the council have backed it I do feel we will get a regional casino licence. There are 9, 1 "mega" casino - probably blackpool, labour government will be almost forced to grant to northern Labour heartland, the other 8 super casino licences will go to larger cities Mega casino Blackpool super casinos Birmingham (city of birmingham stadium) Glasgow (rangers stadium) Manchester (old trafford) London (near wembley) 4 others |

Just a suggestion.... Can we have regular updates on here of how things are going with the stadium. Also how we can help. This stadium SO obviously should go ahead in Birmingham, we have all got to play our part to make sure it happens!!!! Keep the pressure on I say!!! |

if were up against london as well then i cant see us getting it. as we saw with the national stadium we never stood a chance then so i cant see us getting this now. and even if we did it would still go to the NEC i was there sat night and you can see just how much that needs renervating. it wont be to rejuvinate any areas it will go to who ever's pockets get linned. ;) |

Its been said before. The bid on behalf of Blues should now be turned over to a professional lobbying company. I am not decrying the splendid work done so far by Karen and the Board, but that is not their "day-job" is it ? Is it a coincidence that during the developement of the bid, the contacting and networking, the designing and arranging.......during all this period our team has suffered disastrously. Doesn't matter if its bad luck, refs or injuries, it has been whilst the board have been involved in a mammoth negotiation with backers, designers etc, that, imo, their eye has been off the ball. I think that this excellent project should now be handed over to a skilled and expert development and lobbying group, who can further the cause and release the time and strength back to our main players. Karen and the board. I don't think - for one minute - we would be second off the bottom had the casino project not been absorbing so much time and effort. And to add a couple of points, there are more Labour voters in the Midlands Sam, than in the "NORTH" (which is where exactly, Manchester or Newcastle?), or just someone in a cloth cap, to go with the other tired cliche about Labour heartlands? Does anyone know for sure, but didn't Manchester U pull out of the casino bids? And wasn't it do do with the Glazer family business interests in the USA having to come under scrutiny? I thought that bid was a dead pidgeon! . |

does anyone know when the government announces who wins the license. and i agree with the out-of-touch London fatcats wanting to stifle Birminghams development, its very childish really, that this city which started as a tiny village would grow to become the UK's second city would be the victim of the capital's ignorance. the government has no excuse, how hypocritical would it be for them to back London 2012, and not the Birmingham Sports Village  they'd probably build 2 stadiums in London rather than give one to Birmingham. look at Wembley, the majority of the population wanted it in Birmingham. although this one really should be in birmingham, the bid is too strong for any sane politician (if there ARE any) to refuse. i mean just LOOK at it! This all sounds great and i have my fingers crossed but... what i dont want is people saying That we just play on the field and dont have anything to do with our hallowed turf! What are the details on how Birmingham City will be involved...??? Will we have the crest on the stadium, Will there be BCFC writtin into the seats. Will we just be playing in a NON BLUES venue? Anyone know? |
